Members of the financial community have been active supporters of venture philanthropy in the US and Europe. In addition to private equity (see separate section on the menu) asset management firms such as hedge funds, private wealth managers, banks, research companies and other financial intermediaries are attracted to VP because of its “investment minded” approach to philanthropy that is long term, engaged and performance based.
The financial sector is becoming more engaged with VP as impact investing grows rapidly as an accepted approach to combining financial returns and measurable social value (or impact). Larger financial services groups involved in impact investing will have multiple interactions and relationships with VP practitioners and other AVPN members.
Membership of AVPN enables financial services organisations to:
- Strengthen their understanding of VP models to better develop client advisory services
- Provide clients with access to VP funds and VP related events
- Generate VP co-investment opportunities for their clients
